Hello! I just wanted to have some notes available on some aspects of the venue.Background
I (Arya) have owned this plot for a long time, since sometime 2019-20, but didn't finally get around to doing anything with it until recently. I came up with the idea mid 2022 and finally finished the build late 2022, whereupon I sat on the idea and agonized over details and menus and the like until I finally said "screw it" and opened for the first time mid-February 2023.
It's heavily inspired by various curiosities/pawn/second-hand shops with just a dash of the Mystery Shack. I've been told it's also very xxxHolic, which I'm aware of but never read/watched.The Hours
Generally, we are open on Wednesdays and Saturdays!
That being said, if you want to RP here or host an event here on a particular date and time outside of our normal hours, let me know! I'm happy to schedule things out in advance.RP Prices and Items
As mentioned before, all prices and items for the curiosities shop are RP. There is no required exchange of gil.
That's not to say that the shop's stock won't change - it will. If you purchase - for example - the giant stuffed gagana? I'll definitely be removing it from the floor. If you sell Arya something interesting, I will also put it out on the floor (assuming it doesn't require a mogstation purchase). These changes I'll handle on my end, so you don't have to have the item OOC in your inventory in order to sell it.Me

Inventory

This is not a complete index of items in the shop.It would be impossible for me to make a complete inventory of every item here.These are more or less hooks - things that your character might find interesting. If you are looking for something specific or just something else, that is easily arranged.Additionally, many of the items here have a bit of extra personality or baggage. What that means will vary from interaction to interaction. Stuffed GaganaA giant stuffed gagana stands guard at the entrance, staring down any who would enter. Arya has lovingly dubbed it "Nana."

Aetherolectric GuitarOne of many instruments scattered around the establishment. This one sits behind the counter, awaiting a talented musician's touch.

The Giant TomeA large book written in the ancient language of Sharlayan. To the well-studied, it seems to depict information about the portals and the void.
To the aether-attuned, it buzzes with muted energy that is eclipsed by what sits behind it.

Fine ArtA variety of pieces in differing mediums and qualities. Stained glass, oil panting, sculpture - these works can be found scattered throughout the shop.

Icons of EikonsOddities of extreme potency sometimes find their way into Arya's shop, passed from hand to hand and adventurer to adventurer. Currently, an electrified piece sits proudly displayed.
...Maybe don't touch it.

Potions and TincturesColorful bottles displayed, labeled with their effects, some in Eorzean, some in Thavnairian, some in Othardian - most, at least. There are a select few that are unlabeled or unreadable. These are best dealt with cautiously.

The CoffinNo amount of warding could hide the energy that radiates from this. It has a powerful void presence which instills a sense of dread.
If you listen closely, you might hear a thump.

Minerals and GemsBecause what would a vaguely liminal curiosities store be without the barrel of polished rocks?

Second-hand Adventuring SuppliesSwords, shields, bags, laterns - weaponry and other items useful to an adventurer find their way into Whimsy on occasion. Some new, some are old, all are useful only in the right hands. Are those hands yours?

Knick-Knacks and CuriosStuffies and trinkets and statues, oh my! Sometimes the cat bank is just a cat bank.
Sometimes.

TomesThe most important item of all: information. Tomes of all make, quality, and genre are littered about the establishment. Perhaps it's best to ask Arya where to find the one you need?

The Shop

The building hunches forward, its eaves sagging over the entryway. Cracked panes stare unblinking out into the street, a thick layer of dust glazing and dulling them. An old door hastily painted scarlet wedges itself into the crooked frame, stubbornly holding the outside world at bay.The brick walkway leading to the shoppe is well-used and covered with character: scuffs, scrapes, drops of age-old paint. One, more recent mark stands out to the observant - a small burn, set right in the center of the entryway. As one steps over it, they might catch a whiff of old books, cider, and ash that is gone just as quickly as it arrives.The shop itself is full of wonders both old and new, mundane and mystical. Investigate as you will and feel free to ask questions.Anything can be bought or sold for the right price, all you have to do is ask.Hours:

The Wishing Well

The sign on the door says open, but the building otherwise seems closed. The lights are dim, the shop is blocked off - and yet, there's noise. A quiet din hums through the floor, the scent of food and ale mixing with the usual dusty scent of old books.The Wishing Well is an underground lounge-style venue featuring food, drink, and atmosphere. Feel free to come with friends and grab a table, or solo to take a seat at the bar and chat with our lovely staff.If you have interest in the shop, this is a good place to stop by to have a chat with Arya as well - though she can get busy.Hours:

Rules

1. This is a public space.
What this means is that, just like in a real-life bar, treat things as if you are in public. If you say something out loud, be prepared for others to hear it. If you do something inappropriate for a public space, be prepared to have other react to it.
Arya can and will kick people out if she must. She doesn't want to (neither do I) but if your behavior is inappropriate, it'll happen.2. The shop has "mechanics."
Feel free to look around, but if you have any specific questions or want to interact with something, shoot me a tell! I am more than happy to let you know what things do and if touching them will have repercussions.3. No teleporting in or out of the establishment.
I know I said pretty much anything goes, but for lore reasons this is not possible. I don't like putting stipulations on things, but this one is here for a reason. You're welcome to try, but be prepared to come up with an interesting reaction to your character failing.4. There is alcohol in this establishment, so please make sure you are drinking responsibly.
We don't know what age-of-drinking is in Eorzea/beyond, but considering that the games developers have treated characters as adults there is an implicit assumption that you are legal to drink.
Additionally, there is a soft request in this: there are, of course, ramifications to drinking in excess. If you behave poorly, you might be kicked out as part of an IC interaction. There are also certain bodily functions that can occur in tandem. Please don't. Just as an OOC request, please don't. I personally, as a player, will panic and have to step away.5. Absolutely no cake during business hours.6. There's a public restroom upstairs.

When did This One become surrounded by so many other Chatting Ones? Perhaps the Serving Ones might know how This One into this predicament? ((This One now believes themself to be a Sylph, and will speak and act like one. Hopefully this one won't mind too much being so far from the Shroud, away from the other flying ones.))
Sultana's GobletThey feel as if every bit of moisture in the goblet was extremely precious. Honestly, you can't blame them--they look like they're burning up, with heavy beads of sweat dappling their brow and shimmering around their neck. They feel hot to the touch, and appear so very parched. Perhaps some water or fanning would help? ((They feel drier and hotter than the sun blazing down on the Sagolii Desert!))They set down the mug, giving it a curious glance. The drink was fine, but the mug it was served in... aye, that could catch a fair bit of coin. If they figured out a way to produce such mugs efficiently, they could probably turn a bit of gil. What other ways could they profit off things bars need? Thinking about bars, how much gil does this place pull in a week? Hmm... ((They are overtaken by extreme avarice--scheming and plotting ways to hoard absurd amounts of gil.))
Rhotano BreezeFear begins to flood through their body - but of what? Slowly, they turn... The tank. FISH! OH GODS, NOT THE FISH! ((They are terrified of fish. Glub glub.))They rock back, wiping the back of their arm across their lips. It's not the best grog they've ever had, but it's far better than the watered-down whore's piss they usually serve down in Limsa. Now that they think about it, this place's got a lot of good shiney bits and bobs that would fetch a good price. Perhaps there's some lootin' to be had before the Cap'n calls ya back aboard. ((They now think they are a pirate. Yar har, fiddle lee dee.))
Mor Dhona SkiesFruity and refreshing, they lick scaly lips. A small belch of flame erupts from their mouth, though no one seems to notice or care. Curious, they rest a claw on the nearest surface and glance about, wings unfurling to give them a bit of a stretch. None seem bothered by the sheer draconic might radiating from them with every blink of those reptilian eyes. ((They now believe they're a dragon! They're definitely not, but they think they are. Sahl djahs afah an.))They set the cup down, feeling their clothes ruffle. There's a wind. Curious, they glance about, but see nothing strange--though, that's not exactly true. That fish tank, in the corner--what species of fish swim inside? Come to think of it, there are so many books and nicknacks downstairs--perhaps a brief perusal could yield something interesting? ((They are overwhelmed by an insatiable curiosity and will poke and prod things and people in an attempt to sate it.))
Carteneau CoffeeThey begin to hear a faint whisper near them; they turn to look, but see nothing odd. Another whisper on the other side, another turn; was that other patron smirking at them? No, no couldn't be. They're just imagining thin--wait, why is the server smirking at them too? Why is everyone behaving so suspiciously? ((They are now suspicious of everyone and everything.))They all but slam their glass back down on the counter, a wave of energy surging through them. They glance around the room--everyone is so still, just sitting about like a sack of popotoes. Let's get up! Let's get moving! They could sprint fifty yalms with all the energy they have thrumming in them now. ((They are now filled with an absurd amount of energy, and are more than likely bouncing all over the place, or struggling not to.))
Heavenly EggnogUnclean heretics. Filthy rats. They're surrounded, and their eyes blaze with a holy zeal as they observe all the undeserving unbelievers about. Rather than absolve them with flame and fury, perhaps talking would be best? Have you heard the good word of our Lady and Savior, Halone? ((They are filled with religious fervor and want nothing more than to spread their holy gospel.))Absolution. Ascension. Apotheosis. They feel as if they are floating, filled with powerful holy might. They are so overflowing with righteousness that perhaps they could bestow it upon others, give them a push? They can try to bless those around them, but ultimately, nothing seems to happen. ((They feel so filled with holy power they believe they are a god, and can bless those around them. The blessings don't work, though.))
The Morning TideThey blink, a blush creeping onto their cheeks. An unusual shyness washes over them, swirling into an embarrassed ball of anxiety in their chest. A simple smile is enough to send them into bashful titters or a flustered squealing mess. ((They are now easily embarrassed or flustered by anything and everything around them. Be careful or the poor thing might just faint!))The smile that tugs at their lips starts small, fond, even. Eyes dart between the people around them - everyone here is just so, so very lovely. So nice. Were that person's eyes always that lovely shade? The smile broadens to a grin. Affection blooms in their chest, mounting until they feel like they might burst if they don't express their adoration. ((They are now -extremely- affectionate to those around them. This can be platonic or amorous in nature.))
The Wishing (You) WellSome call alcohol 'liquid courage,' but in this case it's liquid confidence. Their back straightens, their shoulders go back - they feel as if they could easily get whatever (or whoever) they want. All it would take is a little 'ara ara' - whatever that means. ((They've been instilled with all the confidence and charismatic power of an ara ara mommy. Good luck to whoever they turn their gaze on.))They feel a bit high up; from here, the ground looks really cozy. Really safe. It'd probably be best to just... yeah. Just lay down there and inch along. No thoughts, head empty. Revel in the ooze, become slug. ((They have now entered slug mode. They can speak, but prefer not to--life is easier as a slug, just creeping along the ground.))
